How do you make your eye shadows?
Each shadow is individually formulated and hand mixed. Some start out with a certain color in mind and are tweaked until the recipe is satisfactory. Some are experiments that ended with happy results. All have a specific formula, which makes them unique and exclusive to Black Rose Minerals.
Do you include free samples with orders?
Yes! Subject to whatever is on on hand and you may receive colors that are no longer on the site or upcoming colors.
Are your shadows safe?
All of our products are formulated with ingredients that are FDA approved and are cosmetic grade. Each listing lists the specific ingredients and what applications each is approved for. I also include if it is not lip safe and or not vegan on the packaging. Anything without a sticker on the packaging is vegan and is safe for all applications.
Why does my shadow look different than what I saw on the site?
Color descriptions are based on our perspective and depending on the settings on your monitor the color may look different.
What is the best way to apply your shadows?
We recommend that you use a base and or primer of your choice. Mineral pigments need something to adhere to. You can decide to wear them without one, though your application will be sheer. For the colors that have a lot of shimmer we recommend using a sticky base, that will allow the shimmer to stand out. You can also apply them with a damp brush, that will intensify the color. We also recommend that you pat on the color, that will reduce fallout. Each listing includes a close up picture and a swatch picture, the color on the left is a dry swatch, the one on the right is a wet swatch.
Under what conditions were your pictures taken and are they dry swatches or with a primer?
The main picture you see in each listing, the up close picture of the pigment, was taken either in direct sunlight when the sun was out and if the sun was not out it was taken under bright white light. All the rest of the pictures on the site are taken under a bright white light light bulb. Each listing has a close up picture, the second picture is of a dry swatch on bare skin on the left hand side and the right side is a wet swatch using water. The last picture, the close up of the eye is with a primer. All the pictures on the site are taken with a Nikon Coolpix L100 using the up close setting with macro option on.
